There are some places that simply bring you back to yourself.
For me, New Orleans during Essence Music Festival is one of them.
Day One of Essence Music Festival 2026 takes me through old connections, new encounters, a reunion with a friend taking the stage, and a little bit of running around New Orleans in between.
But I couldn't leave the city without making a stop on Magazine Street.
An invitation to the Ofuure pop-up becomes one of those unexpected moments that turns into a memory. I enjoyed shopping with a longtime friend, talking about my upcoming birthday, trying on pieces from the latest collection, and ultimately finding THE ONE for my birthday. Ofuure has always been that girl! The pieces are distinctive, coveted, and worn by some of the most stylish women in the culture.
Then it's back into the city for some good New Orleans food before ending the night at an influencer mixer.
It's busy. It's spontaneous. It's social. It's stylish.
It's Day One.
And maybe that's the point of Field Notes: documenting the moments you couldn't have planned if you tried.
